Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 17, 2026 · Last updated: October 17, 2026

This policy explains what data the PDF Xtension Chrome extension (“PDF Xtension”, “the extension”) handles, why, and what you can do about it. PDF Xtension is published by Obzena LLC, 30 N Gould St #45213, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA (“we”, “us”).

The short version

The extension does not collect your browsing history, the content of web pages you visit, your location, or analytics about how you use it.

2. Files and local processing

PDF Xtension uses the open-source libraries pdf.js and pdf-lib, bundled inside the extension, to read and write PDFs in your browser. A PDF you open from a browser tab is downloaded by your browser into the extension's page, used for the tool you chose, and briefly kept in the extension's local storage (IndexedDB) only to hand it from the toolbar menu to the tool page; it is deleted as soon as the tool page opens it.

3. AI translation

  1. In your browser, the extension reads the text of the pages you chose and its position on the page.
  2. Only the text blocks (for example “Annual report 2026”) with an internal block number are sent over HTTPS to our server, which checks your plan and forwards them to OpenAI's API. Positions, images and the file stay on your device.
  3. The translated text comes back and the extension draws it into the same places on the page, in your browser.

OpenAI acts as our service provider. Under its API terms, data sent through its API is not used to train its models by default and is deleted after a limited retention period (up to 30 days). We keep the translated text of each request for 24 hours so that a retried request is not charged twice, then it is deleted automatically.

Do not translate documents you are not allowed to share with a service provider. Machine translation can contain mistakes; check important documents before relying on them.

4. Payments and your plan

When you choose a plan, Stripe's checkout page opens in a new tab. Stripe processes your payment and shares with us the subscription status, plan, renewal date and the email you entered. We never receive your full card number. Stripe's privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy.

5. Browser permissions

6. Service providers

We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users or of Obzena LLC.

7. Retention and deletion

Removing the extension deletes the data stored in your browser. To delete the data on our server, email hello@obzena.com with the subject “PDF Xtension data deletion” and the email you used at checkout; we delete it within 30 days. Deleting data does not cancel a subscription; see the Support page for how to cancel.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA or KVKK), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to processing. Contact us at hello@obzena.com; we respond within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. Our legal bases (where the GDPR applies) are performance of our contract with you and our legitimate interests in security and abuse prevention.

Our providers process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).

9. Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use data only to provide the extension's single purpose (working with PDF files and translating them), we do not sell it, we do not use it for advertising or creditworthiness, and humans do not read it except with your permission, for security, or to comply with the law.

10. Children, changes and contact

PDF Xtension is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We may update this policy when the extension changes; the current version is always on this page, with the date at the top.
